Use the following workflow to determine which mounting option will be best for your desired install.

When mounting your device take the following into consideration:

  • Location.
  • Amplitude Range.
  • Accessibility.
  • Environment.
  • Does the device need to be permanent or portable.

Do you have a magnet or mounting base?

Magnetic Mount

This option is not suitable for every installation. In order to ensure a proper install it is important that you examine the surface and determine which type of magnet works best for that install.

Flat Magnet- Best for smooth/ flat surfaces.

Dual-Rail Magnet- Best for curved surfaces.

Mounting Pad with Magnet- Best for non-magnetic or rough surfaces.

  1. Use the following instructions to attach your magnetic mount:
  2. Choose the correct magnet type for the surface.
  3. Hand tighten the mounting stud to the appropriate magnet.
  4. Prepare and clean the surface. Ensure surface smooth and is rid of debris and oil.
  5. After cleaning the surface, wipe on a a light coating of machine oil.
  6. Mount the device to the surface by sliding it into place.

Adhesive Mount

When using an adhesive mount technique it is import that you follow all instructions on how to use the two-part epoxy to ensure a permanent mount. Click the links below to review the following data sheets.

Separate Adhesive Mounting Base

This allows you to mount a base to the surface of the machine, and then mount the device to the base. Follow the instructions below on how to achieve this mount:

  1. Prepare and clean the surface. Ensure surface smooth and is rid of debris and oil.
  2. Hand tighten the mounting stud to the machine.
  3. Place a small amount of adhesive under the side of the mounting base and press down firmly.
  4. Attach the device to the mount.
Direct Adhesive Mount
  1. The device will be directly mounted to the machines surface.
  2. Prepare and clean the surface. Ensure surface smooth and is rid of debris and oil.
  3. Place a small amount of adhesive on the bottom of the sensor.
  4. Place and press down firmly on the device to displace any additional adhesive.
Stud Mount
  1. Prepare and clean the surface. Ensure surface smooth and is rid of debris and oil.
  2. After cleaning the surface, wipe on a small amount of coupling fluid prior to installation.
  3. Hand tighten the sensor or mounting stud to the machine. Apply recommended mounting torque.

Practice caution-under torquing may not adequately couple device, while over torquing may result in stud failure.

Congratulations, you are done!
