This document provides an overview of the following topics for the Current Sensor Installation:
- Cable Management
- Sensor Assembly
- Installation Guidelines
- Sensor placement should be as close to the equipment bearing locations as possible, without impeding the vibration signal being collected.
- A good clean mounting surface is key to good installation.
- Sensors should be securely placed to avoid back and forth “rocking motion”. This could appear as a mechanical looseness condition to the analyst, resulting in a misdiagnosis of a machine health condition.
Remember: Analysts are working remotely and relying on the installation team to ensure reliable data is being received. The vibration analysis can only be as good as the data being collected.
Do the following to ensure proper surface preparation:
- Locate a flat surface, near the mounting base close to the bearing.
- Clean surface area with chisel/wipes as needed.
- Wipe off excessive dust.
Complete the following steps below:
- Using adhesive secure the puck to the surface. DO NOT attach the plum bob.
- NOTE: the weight of the plum bob will not permit the glue to set easily
- After the glue sets screw the sensor plum bob onto the puck
- Screw the 3-pin cable connector to the sensor bobble and to the transmitter box
See below for an example on how to mount each sensor:
See an example below on how to properly secure your cables:
- Route extension cable neatly to secure.
- For additional support use tie-wraps and tie-wrap mounting bases as needed.
